RFA Members’ Update July 2024
Rother Valley Railway
The RVR has bought land along the valley to extend the railway. That means it is no longer possible to access the (private to RFA members) river from Northbridge Street at Robertsbridge.
There is however a public footpath a few yards along Church Lane towards Salehurst very close to the roundabout, that leads down to the river, and so it is still accessible.
Royal Military Canal
The EA weedboats are working along the canal from Iden Lock and so the canal is already more fishable.
For access to Kenardington car park, contact your club if you do not have the gate code, as all RFA clubs have been given it. That also applies to Warehorne, see below.
The same code gives access to the two ‘throw’ weed rakes the RFA has chained to the fences at Warehorne and Kenardington. They are there for your use, please return them as you find them. Use suitable gloves, and after use thoroughly wash / sanitise your hands. You will find the gate at Warehorne will soon be locked, the code will be the same as the Kenardington gate.
Potman’s Heath
The EA machinery has been working along the river, removing weeds and lilies, and it is now
far more fishable.
Parking at Bodiam – see the agreement details below. You MUST have your RFA permit to hand in order to park for free – the National Trust have a checklist of RFA clubs
- Parking at any time for two members’ cars free of charge.
- Members should obtain a parking permit from the ticket office and display this within their car. This should be returned to the ticket office on leaving Bodiam Castle.
- If the number of members’ cars is to exceed two, then those members should purchase a parking ticket from the ticket machine. However, if the property is closed to the public, Rother Fishery Association members may park free of charge.
General Enquiries
Contact your club if you have any questions, if they cannot answer them they will contact the RFA direct to get answers. It is not possible for the RFA to respond to individual enquiries other than those directed through your own club as stated here.
