General description
About 1900 yards of the right hand bank upstream and also about 400 yards downstream, on the left hand bank (commencing about 300 yards downstream from the road bridge).
Upstream access via gates near to Blackwall North pumping station.
A broad, open, deep, previously dredged river. Very popular. There are about 80 swims on the Rother here and, up to where it joins the Potmans Heath Channel, and then, there are another 40 or so. On the lower (downstream) reach, Ham Green, about 25 swims are available.
As with Newenden, the river here is popular with other water users, near the bridge especially, so it can be best to walk upstream for a field or two if it’s busy, well away from the bridge.
