General description
The canal can be an excellent fishery throughout its length. In the summer, it is used to store water to irrigate farmers fields, so the depth holds up at around 4-6 feet. It is a very weedy water, and always has been, so it is a good idea to take a small weed rake to open up your swim. The fish soon respond and the coloured water proves an advantage. In winter, the levels are lowered for flood defence reasons and it can be quite shallow. The fishable bank offers very comfortable fishing
The canal produces some very good catches at times and that includes Bream, Carp, Eels, Perch, Pike, Roach and Rudd.
